We use iTempo Tap on virtually all our film scores. We use it to find tempos before starting to write music to a scene. It has been extremely reliable and stable for us... Its really simple to use, takes no CPU and no memory (as far as we could tell) so its always launched in the background, ready to be used at a moments notice.
